Hi, I’m Margie Brenner. A content marketing, community engagement and communications specialist with a project management and environmental protection background in Shelburne, VT.

Work. Life.

Since December 2023, I have been working in a full-time, hybrid role as a Digital Content Specialist on the Medical Communications team at the University of Vermont (UVM) campus in Burlington, Vermont. In this position, I manage social media strategy and content (over 2,000 posts published in 2024) with an audience of more than 24,000 followers at UVM’s Larner College of Medicine (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and X/Twitter). In this role, I attend numerous events both on and off-campus, caputuring footage for engaging social content. Several times per year, high-profile projects and events occur in medical school, including graduation day, resident match day, and the white coat ceremony. For these occasions, I collaborate with UVM’s flagship social media team to share content with the entire University, and work with our event planner, internal graphic designer, project coordinator, and professional photographers to develop and cover larger campaigns.

Beyond social media, I manage a variety of communications channels such as the UVM Larner Med blog; the Dean’s monthly Larner Medicine email newsletter (over 2,000 subscribers); the college’s multiple large display monitors; and I have authored dozens of feature articles and shorter pieces for the college website and magazine, shared in my online portfolio. I have advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Express, Hootsuite (Analytics), Later LinkInBio, Canva, Basecamp, Photo Shelter, Moodle, EMMA by Marigold (email management), Mailchimp, Microsoft Office 365, Drupal, WordPress, SquareSpace, and Wix.

From October 2021 – November 2023, I was the Business and Marketing Development Officer at the University of Massachusetts Amherst Wind Energy Center, managing branding, communication channels, social media, alumni / industry outreach, industry partnerships, grant proposal preparation, student interns and special events.

From July 2018 to 2019, I was an Online Communications Consultant managing content creation (long and short form product content, blogs, articles, social media posts), content editing, web design, graphic design, editorial calendar production and social media management.

Between January 2016 to June 2018, I worked at General Services Administration (GSA) Region 1 in Boston as a federal environmental protection specialist, earning a LEED GA for building certification. From January 2014 through January 2016, I served as a public affairs specialist at US Fish and Wildlife Service New England regional headquarters in Hadley, Massachusetts.

I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communications from Boston University (1996), a Masters of Applied Science in Environmental Policy and Management (Natural Resource Management track) from University of Denver (2013), and a Graduate Certificate in Sustainable Development from University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth (2012).

My other jobs prior to environmentally related internships at EPA and GreenerU included Manager of eCommerce and Product Manager (Transparent Language), Project and Marketing Manager (Boston Green Goods), Web Designer (Harvard University), Web Production Manager (MotherNature.com) Marketing Assistant (Combined Jewish Philanthropies).

Specialties: Online marketing and communications, environmental policy and management, program management, project management, content strategy, writing, editing, internal and external relations, partnerships, grant writing, search engine optimization, social media management, special events coordination, contract negotiation.

Be the CHANGE you wish to see in the world.
